Alumnae Aunties

OED: ‘Aunty’ – an affectionate term for a benevolent practical woman who exercises these qualities for the benefit of her circle of acquaintance.

Like you, the Aunties have been through the ups and downs of student life.

Building on the strengths of the College Parents tradition, the Aunties are very happy to share tea and cake, a dog walk, a couple of hours away from your (or our) essay (or laundry) crisis, or even just an email exchange or chat on the phone to offer you the support and reassurance that we all sometimes need but sometimes don’t know where to go to ask for it.

So, if you’re feeling a long way from home or a bit uncertain about how to tackle some of the challenges you may be facing, why not get in touch with one of us to see if we can help?

We’re an informal group of Newnham alumnae, outside the university ‘bubble’, who’d like to offer our services in addition to all the formal College and informal MCR and JCR welfare support. Some of us are local to Cambridge; others are further afield – but we’re all willing to help to stop little problems escalating.
