Walks & views
The best Newnham experiences are slow: river air, village lanes, churchyard views and forest-edge paths.
1. Village heritage loop
Time: 45–75 minutes. Wander the High Street, St Peter’s Church, green spaces and old lanes. Good for first-time visitors and photographers.
2. Severn-view amble
Time: 1–2 hours. Head toward open views of the River Severn and the horseshoe bend. Check paths and tide conditions locally before walking close to the river.
3. Garden-and-village day
Time: Half day. Pair Newnham village with Westbury Court Garden and a relaxed lunch or pub stop.
4. Forest of Dean extension
Time: Half day to full day. Use Newnham as a starting point for forest trails, cycling, heritage sites and Wye Valley viewpoints.
Walking tip
Wear shoes that can handle wet grass and mud outside summer. The Severn landscape is beautiful but exposed, tidal and changeable.
